New York City Real Estate

There are admittedly some pieces of New York City real estate which are harder to buy than others. But you cannot be prevented from buying or selling for any of the following reasons: your ethnic group, familial status, gender, handicap, religion, color of your skin, and race.

If you are planning to buy properties, or simply rent these, and maybe even sell your purchase afterwards, you may get the precise appraisal of the value of your property by getting a professional engineer or architect to assist the New York City real estate agent you hired as you canvass your options.

Before you start contacting New York real estate agents, you should have a clear idea of the type of property you are looking to buy. You  should also do your research about the property you have in mind well in advance before approaching landlords or owners of the property about any transactions. Using an agent that represents you is always a good idea, rather then just going through the sellers agent. Your agent will be looking out for your interests and will do everything they can to ensure that you are getting the best deal possible.

You can find properties to purchase in Staten Island, Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn and Manhattan. Location will be a key factor in the actual cost of the property as well as the type of property you are interested in, residential or commercial. Property in Manhattan, especially in the business district, is generally going to cost you much more then if you were to purchase property in one of the other boroughs. It might be a good idea to look at each area for property options, things to take note of is how convenient public transportation is, local shopping, school districts, and any other area that may impact your decision making process.

Another way to scout around for real estate for sale is by consulting specific area newspapers like The New York Times. Even the online versions of such newspapers may have the information you need such as the types of property in New York being offered (ie. studio condo units vs. one-bedroom condo units); the possible market demand for such property; the number of bedrooms that are available per property; and the number of bathrooms that have been constructed amidst the property you are contemplating of buying.

You might be surprised who chooses to contact an agent selling real estate in New York – there are quite a lot of city folk who would like to get a chance to live in the country for various reasons. But they have to know quite well what type of real estate they are  actually thinking about purchasing before they opt to call up the local agents altogether. It is interesting how many people  buy properties that are refurbished pieces of old real estate. For instance, there are now properties in New York that were constructed out of barns.
